New York Passes Bill Requiring Disclosure Of AI News
There's not a more terrifying thought to me than being unable to trust your own senses. It effectively means that your brain (the thing that makes you, you) is not working as it should.
With the rise of Artificial Intelligence, this has become a legitimate problem in everyday life, and New York is working to fix it...

A.I. Journalism
A.I. in its current state has many uses, but most commonly, it's used to write, brainstorm, and create. Throw in a prompt and it will spit out a 300 page book in seconds, without you having to do any heavy lifting whatsoever.

The issue is, since this media isn't actually written by someone who has to check their sources, it can be flawed, or even flat out wrong. With more creatively focused projects, those are kinks that need to be worked through, but it makes journalism, the reporting of facts, an absolute nightmare.
Disclosure
On Sunday, June 7th, the New York Legislature passed S.8451-B / A.8962-B. The legislation requires that any news organization operating in the state of New York to completely disclose when they use generative A.I. content in their articles, media, or any content made.
This is a huge development, especially after a survey by the National Broadcasters Association found that 76% of Americans are concerned about A.I. stealing or reproducing journalistic content. As I mentioned above, the issue comes in when the tech "hallucinates" information and includes it in articles, presenting it as fact.
Obviously, A.I. is here to stay, but this places a limit on how much it's able to impact our subjective view of reality.
