Dashcam Video Captures Daytime Fireball Over Upstate New York
Fiery Object Streaks Across Daytime Sky
Dashcam video (see below) captured near Rome, New York, is getting plenty of attention after appearing to show a bright fiery object streaking across the daytime sky.
The video, originally shared by Utica Meteorologist Bill Kardas and recorded by Daniel Wilcox, was filmed on Erie Boulevard looking east.
Soon after the footage was posted, eyewitnesses from across Central New York began sharing similar experiences.

Several Eyewitnesses Shared What They Saw
One woman attending a Little League game in Little Falls said the object appeared to have orange flames shooting from behind it as it headed toward the ground. Others reported seeing it while driving near Utica, Verona, the New York State Thruway, and other parts of the region.

Several witnesses described initially thinking it was a firework, flare, or even imagining things until someone nearby confirmed they had seen it too.
The sighting comes just days after NASA confirmed another bright daytime meteor over the Northeast.
Debris Fell Into Cape Cod Bay
According to the agency, the fireball was a natural meteor—not a satellite or space debris—and broke apart with energy equivalent to roughly 300 tons of TNT before meteorites fell into Cape Cod Bay.
Sources say that NASA received more than 70 reports from across the Northeast, including New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts, and parts of Canada.
Whether the object seen over Central New York was connected to that event remains unclear. What is clear is that plenty of Upstate New Yorkers looked up and saw something they won't soon forget.
