911 Hang-Up Triggers Dispatch

A terrifying situation unfolded in Rensselaer County this week, but thankfully, everyone is safe.

North Greenbush Police say a 30-year-old man was arrested Tuesday following what they describe as a violent domestic incident involving weapons, threats, and children inside a home on Main Avenue.

Officers report that they were first dispatched on February 17th after receiving a 911 hang-up call. When they arrived, they found signs of a struggle inside the residence, but no one was home. Police later located the female victim in Troy, where she reported that an argument with Eric Gordon escalated into violence.

Held Gun to Her Head

According to investigators, Gordon allegedly threatened the victim with a knife, physically assaulted her, and then retrieved a gun, which he reportedly held to her head and discharged. Authorities say the gun contained a blank round.

Police also allege he sprayed bear spray inside the home, exposing everyone present, including children, to the chemical irritant.

Despite the chaos, the victim was able to safely remove the children from the home and get them to safety. Police say she suffered minor injuries, while the children were not physically harmed.

Officers located Gordon roughly three hours later and took him into custody with help from the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office.

Very Serious Allegations

He now faces multiple serious charges, including kidnapping, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

“The allegations in this case are extremely serious, particularly given the involvement of children,” said Chief David M. Keevern, who also thanked the Rensselaer County Bureau of Public Safety dispatchers, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police for their assistance.
