‘Dog Rescue’ in Mayfield Under Investigation for Animal Cruelty
Animal Abuse in Mayfield, NY
State Police in New York say they arrested a Capital Region woman for allegedly abusing dozens of dogs at her home, which also doubled as a not-for-profit dog rescue.
According to the State Police, Alison M. Martin, 42, of Mayfield, was arrested this week and charged with animal cruelty, which consisted of overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals, and failure to provide proper sustenance.
On Tuesday, Troopers responded to a home in Mayfield, NY, after a concerned individual reported a potentially malnourished dog at the location.
With assistance from the Mayfield Dog Control Officer, they discovered multiple dogs living in unsanitary conditions, and some, according to SP, had gone without access to clean water.

Martin Operated a Local Dog Rescue
Further investigation revealed that the resident, Martin, had been operating a not-for-profit organization called "Heartwarming Hounds Dog Rescue" from the property.
The following day, according to the report, 23 dogs in Martin’s care were surrendered to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society.
A Google search for “Heartwarming Hounds Dog Rescue” showed no results, suggesting that the organization has been taken offline.
This investigation is ongoing.

What To Do If You Witness Animal Cruelty
If you witness animal cruelty or believe an animal is in danger, report the matter immediately to local law enforcement and your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or other humane enforcement agencies.
Over a decade ago, the Albany County Animal Abuser Registry was established by an act of the Albany County Legislature, known as Local Law K. The registry, hosted by the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, is a public service.
The following people seen on this list have been convicted of animal cruelty. While it's unclear exactly what they're guilty of, one thing is clear: They are not allowed to own, possess, reside in, have custody of, or intentionally engage in physical contact with any animal.
Period.
