The 32nd Empire State Winter Games for 2012 will be held in Lake Placid, New York, from February 2 – 5.

I know it’s only fall but I think this is something about winter to look forward to. There are expected to be about 900 athletes participating.

Some of the events include cross country skiing, Alpine skiing, speed skating, women’s ice hockey, bobsledding and more. We’ve had some Albany area people that went on to participate in the 2014 Winter Olympics. John Napier, a bobsledder from Schenectady was one of them.

There is a marketing firm from Glens Falls that has been chosen to sell sponsorship opportunities for the event. Behan Communications will be trying to get additional revenue for the Olympic week.

You have to admit that even if you don’t like winter, and this isn’t that far from home, this would be pretty cool to watch, whether it’s going to be on tv or to actually go to Lake Placid and watch it right there.
