Horror Movie Filmed in Saratoga County Premiering at Prestigious Screamfest in LA

A short horror movie made by a local filmmaker and shot primarily in the Capital Region has been making the rounds, shown at some of the most celebrated film festivals in the world.  And later this month, it will make its US debut at the most popular horror film festival of them all, Screamfest in Los Angeles.

According to Foothillsbusinessdaily, "The Rickety Man," a 15-minute short horror film from the creative mind of Glens Falls native Cameron Gallagher was filmed primarily in Saratoga and Glens Falls and funded by a Kickstarter campaign that helped cover $16,000 of the $25,000 film production costs.

The creepy, cryptic trailer doesn't offer much of a peek into the suspenseful storyline, but "The Rickety Man" is described as "a period piece set in pre-Civil War America, the film follows a man whose wife has died, and he watches as his children grow “weirder and weirder,” Gallagher said."

"The Rickety Man will make its North American premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in L.A., Sunday Oct. 17 during Screamfest, the biggest horror film festival in the country." - Foothillsbusinessdaily

 

According to the source, the film has already been viewed at the Cannes Short Film Festival and will play at the Toronto film festival, but for the creator of this horror short, the best is yet to come and that's Screamfest.

Gallagher told Foothillsbusinessdaily that the 10-day festival in LA is the big stop on the gore tour saying, “That one’s definitely like the flagship one for us.”
