Fuller Road Closing In Albany Starting This Weekend

So I turn onto Fuller Road from Central Avenue in Colonie, and I see a sign that shows that "Fuller Road is closing from may 4 through May 14". I’m thinking, “you’ve got to be kidding?”

I know there’s construction down the road at Washington Avenue in Albany. I did a story about it a few weeks ago, complete with pictures of what the area is supposed to look like when the project is finished.

I didn’t notice the time period of the closure on the sign.

As I did a little research, I finally found out what’s going on from the Town Of Colonie website, complete with a link to the Albany County website with more information. From that site, you can see a map of the route for the detour. It’s actually a small section of Fuller Road that will be closing. It’s between Railroad Avenue and Washington Avenue. Plus it will be closed mostly at night, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Another to keep in mind, you may not be able to get to I-90 westbound from Fuller Road, or exit from I-90 to drive on Fuller. Those ramps are expected to be closed for the whole period of construction. There’s going to be a roundabout installed in this area. This is going to be the final phase of this major construction project. Everything is expected to be done by the end of the month.

The full length of Fuller Road will have been completely revamped from Central Avenue in Colonie, to Western Avenue in Albany. If you need to travel in the area, you may need to do a little extra planning so you can get where you need to go.
