The Best Places For Fall Apple Picking In The New York Capital Region
There's nothing quite like autumn in New York. The leaves become vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and red, pumpkin spice is everywhere, and the smell of cinnamon is in the air.
Aside from heading to a pumpkin patch, there may be no more iconic fall activity than apple picking, and we're going to look at the internet's favorite spots around the Capital Region.
The Best Places for Apple Picking in Upstate NY
I decided to peruse some message boards for the internet's favorite places for apple picking in the region, and few kept coming up more than often. Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont was a favorite, offering not only apple picking, but a cidery, tasting room, and fan-favorite pizza shop. Though it's recommended to go on weekdays, as the weekends are constantly jam-packed.
Altamont Orchards and Hick's Farms were another two that came highly recommended in the area for their homey vibes and ease of access from the city.

Apple Picking Festival
If you want to take in the spirit of autumn away from all the average fall festivals in the area, take a trip down to the Columbia County Fairgrounds on September 13th and 14th for the Capital Apple Festival.
This is a festival for apples, fall, cider, and wine, bringing the tastes of Upstate NY together for a one-of-a-kind experience. Live music, tastings, and local vendors will be involved as well, making sure there's not a dull moment while you're taking in the sights, sounds, and tastes of Upstate New York Autumn.
