The government shutdown could hold  the IRS issuing tax returns.

If you are expecting some money back from the IRS this year, lets hope the government shutdown ends soon. According to a News 10 report, if the shutdown continues into tax season the IRS will no be issuing refunds until the shutdown ends. Almost 90% of the IRS workforce is not reporting for work during the shutdown.

Here's the part you are really going to love: News 10 says the IRS will still be processing returns and will be accepting payments if you owe taxes. So they can process the return (the most complicated and time intensive part of the process), they can process your payment - but they could not process a payment back to you? Of course this is the case!

So, if you are an early filer you may have to wait a bit for your return if the shutdown continues.
