Even Beer Is Being Affected By the Government Shutdown
The effects of the government shutdown reach far and wide, and could affect the production of new beers and opening of new breweries.
I know, how is the shutdown affecting beer? Well, just like anything else, the federal government licenses new breweries and approves any new malted hop concoction they decide to sell. According to New York Upstate, no new breweries can open right now and no new beers are being approved because the entity that approves both - the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, is shutdown with everything else. They basically license new breweries, wineries and distilleries and approve any drinks the produce of serve. With the bureau shut down, nothing new is getting approved to open or be served.
First and foremost, the shutdown is affecting so many Americans financially right now. Let's hope the government stalemate gets resolved ASAP so pay checks can start flowing again. No matter which side of the political aisle you stand on I know it pains you to see hard working folks wondering how they are going to pay their bills. Once the money starts flowing again, then it will be nice to see some of the little things come back to life. Liek the Alcohol bureau keeping those new breweries and tasty craft beers coming!
