Yesterday (8/16) was the 35th anniversary of the death of the King of Rock And Roll Elvis Presley. In honor of that I thought I would showcase an Elvis classic that was also a hit for Dwight Yoakam. In this weeks edition of Flashback Friday we go back to 1987  for Dwight's version of "Little Sister".

This Top 5 hit for Elvis back in 1961, would peak at #7 on the charts for Dwight in 1987 from his second album "Hillbilly Deluxe". Dwight would have a string of top 10 hits following this including a big #1 smash the following year "The Streets Of Bakersfield" with Buck Owens. This wouldn't be the lastt time Dwight would channel "The King". He would also do a version of "Suspicous Minds" for the Honeymoon In Vegas movie soundtrack and would record a version of Elvis' "Santa Claus Is Back In Town".

These days Dwight is still making music, he has a new album due out in September called "3 Pears". It will be Dwight's first studio album of new material since 2005's "Blame The Vain". He is also still busy making movies. You may have seen him in such films as Sling Blade, Crank and Wedding Crashers. He has another due out next year called Jane Mansfield's Car.
