An Indoor Cornhole Facility Being Built in the Capital Region
If you thought pickleball was the new hot sport in the Capital Region, hold your paddle because cornhole is ready to step up.
According to the Albany Business Review, Karie and Michael Countermine are getting ready to open The Boardroom & Lounge, a brand-new 6,000-square-foot indoor cornhole facility in Rotterdam.
It appears that the plan is to build it off Curry Road and Altamont Avenue. They are hoping to have a soft opening at the end of August.
They’re is a big warehouse space on Wedgewood Heights. It’s a shared building, and they would be taking over about half of it. The town gave them the green light for the project in mid-July.
Inside, they are planning on eight official cornhole lanes, and each one can host two to four players. A time-slot system will be used so the place doesn’t get overcrowded.
Whether you’re just tossing for fun or looking to get competitive, this spot will have something for everyone. There will be youth and adult leagues, tournaments, seasonal events, and even company outings.
The Boardroom will have a chill lounge area where people can hang out between games. You’ll be able to grab some snacks or visit one of the rotating food trucks outside. They’re planning to be open on weeknights and weekends.
There will be an option for beer and wine as they are working on getting a license to serve. Until then, it seems they will allow you to bring your own.
While the Capital Region has hosted cornhole leagues and events, The Boardroom & Lounge looks to be the first local spot totally dedicated to the game. So if you're into cornhole or just looking for something new to do, this might be your next hangout.
