It's 2020 so nothing could possibly shock us, right?  Well then you shouldn't be too surprised to learn that police are on the hunt to find out who stole...wait for it... a firetruck.

Town of Colonie Police are looking for information that can lead them to the person or persons responsible for the heist of an actual firetruck after it was learned that someone stole it from the Colonie Municipal Training Building.

WRGB CBS 6 reports that the firetruck was stolen on Sunday, then apparently taken for a joyride before it was returned to State Street in Schenectady on Sunday.

The Town of Colonie Police are hoping that the public can help find the person responsible for and posted on their Facebook page that they are seeking answers.  They say If you "saw or heard this vehicle during that time frame,"  to contact them.

The Colonie Police can be reached at (518) 783-2754 Ext. 8420.

It is unknown at this time how the grand theft auto happened or if there was any damage to the firetruck. It is believed that the firetruck issued to the City of Albany was being used for training purposes at the Colonie Municipal Training Building which is used by "fire companies, police departments and EMS from across the region – from Schenectady County, Saratoga County, Rensselaer County and  Albany County."
