Pickleball combines tennis, badminton, and other types of sports that use racquets. It is a game that can be played by all ages. It is played on a concrete court much like a tennis court but with different lines. Pickleball isn't just for seniors, it is gaining interest with families and younger generations.
Capital Region Country Clubs Are Adapting to the Pickleball Craze
According to the Albany Business Review, there are many country clubs in the Capital Region that already have pickleball courts. Four new outdoor pickleball courts are being built a the Colonie Golf and Country Club. Courts were also added at Shaker Ridge and the Troy Country Club.
Local Country Clubs Listening to Members
Mike Jewell, who is the general manager of Colonie Golf & Country Club said that when members who are snowbirds returning from Florida have asked about adding pickleball. But he also stated that it's not just seniors interested, it's new members and their young families. They realize the country club experience is more than golf and tennis.
There is a Pickleball Club Moving Into Latham Soon
With the rise of a new yet fifty-year-old backyard sport, there are plans to build a Pickleball Club inside the former Kmart building. It will be called True Pickleball Club and cater to those who love or want to learn the game.
