Brick House Tavern & Tap Closes in Latham-Chick-fil-A Coming?
Rumors had been swirling for quite some time about Brick House Tavern & Tap closing and now it's official. But there are more rumors. It appears that there is a popular restaurant that may be moving into its location.
Why Did Brick House Tavern & Tap Close?
The lease on the property at 579 Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham has expired last week. The Brick House Tavern & Tap was opened in 2016 in Latham Farms according to the Albany Business Review. Tim Kaliher who is the vice president and CEO of the Brick House Tavern & Tap said of the closing,
We are grateful for the support of the local community and loyal patrons. We value our employees, their dedication to our company and are working to relocate them.
Plans For a Chick-fil-A in This Space?
In an article written in the Times Union in August of last year, planning documents were filed with the Town of Colonie to open the new Chick-fil-A. There has been chatter for years about building a location in Latham and now if everything goes as planned, that's where it will be. It will be at the site of Brick House Tavern on Troy Schenectady Road.
Sean Maguire who is the Town of Colonie's director of planning and economic development said that those plans for Chick-fil-A are still active.
That project is still in active consideration. They still have some planning work to do to show us how traffic can move effectively and efficiently through that area. So we're just waiting on the consultants and the applicant to return back to us with some more information about that and see what they can propose to solve for the planning board's concerns there.
What Are the Plans For the Colonie Chick-fil-A?
The plan is to demolish Brick House Tavern & Tap and build a completely new structure. It would be a five-thousand-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru and some outdoor seating. It would also hold one hundred fifteen parking spaces.
Other Chick-fil-As Popping Up
It was announced this week that the Clifton Park Chick-fil-A should be completed by spring 2023. Also, a location in North Greenbush got approval and will be built for a spring 2023 opening as well.
