Boil Water Advisory In Place For New York’s Capital Region
There's not a more important substance on Earth than water. It's necessary for human, plant, and animal life, and for all intents and purposes, is truly the giver of life.
We rely so much on it, that when access to clean water becomes scarce, problems begin arising.

A Broken Water Main
At 9 a.m. on Monday, January 19th, a water transmission main broke near 31 British American Boulevard. Just 30 minutes later, the main lost pressure, which allows harmful bacteria and untreated water to enter circulation.
In order to fix this as soon as possible, Latham Water District crews were dispatched to remedy the problem. They isolated the affected area and have been working around the clock to bring pressure back to normal values. While that's taking place, however, the city is urging you to take caution.
Boil Water Advisory in Colonie
In order to protect the area's health, a "Boil Water Advisory" has been put into effect. This is incredibly simple, but unfathomably important. Ensure you boil your water before use, whether for cooking, drinking, or anything else. The effect is meant to last two days, so it will likely be lifted by Thursday, January 22nd.
Drinking untreated water can lead to a litany of issues, from nausea to diarrhea to headaches. These are especially prevalent in infants and the elderly, so take extra caution around these groups. As such, it's vital that you follow this order until tests confirm the water is safe to drink once again.
