Several Upstate New York Park Beaches Closed For Water Quality
Summer is finally here, and upstate New York can feel it. In these heat waves, it's important to stay cool, and it's super easy to have fun while doing it.
Beaches are the prime destination for summer recreation, and New York has not shortage of them, but several have been closed over health concerns in the past few weeks...

Which Beaches are Closed
There are three Park Beaches across Upstate New York that have closed. One of which is for a harmful Algal Bloom, and the others are closed for heavy rainfall.

The beaches closed are:
- Long Point State Park (Lake Chautauqua in Chautauqua County)
- Closed for harmful algal bloom
- Tested June 21
- Robert H. Treman State Park (Tompkins County)
- Closed for rainfall
- Tested June 22
- Fillmore Glen State Park (Cayuga County)
- Closed for rainfall
- Tested June 22
In addition, Beaver Island State Park in Erie County is under advisory due to high levels of E. Coli in the water.
Should You Be Concerned?
While these updates may seem concerning, this is simply the New York State Parks taking precautions. These concerns could turn out to be overblown, but the state requires regular testing and closures in order to keep the public safe.
Luckily, there are 63 other beaches across the state of New York, where you can take a dip, soak up the sun, and enjoy the summer without a care in the world. Stay up to date with all closures and advisories at the New York Department of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation website.
