Obviously, Albany and the Capital Region can't build to the size and scope of NYC in a short time frame, but a new project hopes to revitalize the Capital city into an area just as influential and noteworthy as the Big Apple.

The Downtown Revitalization Initiative

In 2016, the state of New York launched its "Downtown Revitalization Initiative", aimed at creating safer, more engaging areas for the community. This initiative has been taking place across all ten regions of the state for the past nine years, with the Capital Region receiving a major focus.

New Offices in Downtown Albany

The newest project under the DRI is a major one for Albany. It will be the first office building developed in Downtown Albany for twenty years. That's a huge gap, and one that will be shattered by this new project.

705 Broadway

The new building will be a Tier 1, Class A building, located at 705 Broadway, in the heart of Downtown. Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP will be the first tenant, and as the Capital Region's largest law firm, they're an excellent choice. The hope is that this building, and subsequent relocation for WO&H, will reinforce the economy and revitalize Albany's downtown area for new business, tourism, and leisure.

The building is expected to be completed in two years, with an expected completion date in Fall of 2027.
