Albany County Man Wins $1M from Scratch Off Sold at Latham Cumby’s
Instant Scatch-Offs from the New York State Lottery offer the chance at a quick thrill when you're on the go, but sometimes that thrill can change your life.
That happened recently when a man from Albany County played "Strike it Rich" and he did just that, winning the million-dollar top prize, after paying a life-changing visit to a Cumberland Farms in Latham.
According to the Daily Voice, the NY Lottery made the announcement last week that Albany County resident Daniel Foster, of Watervliet, claimed a top prize - 1 Million Dollars - from the lottery's "Strike it Rich" scratch-off game.
The DV reports that Foster chose to be paid at once and received a one lump sum payment of over $550,000.
Strike it Rich is a $5 ticket in which you must scratch your card to reveal your numbers in hopes of matching the "Strike it Rich" numbers. The prizes go up depending on how many you match, plus hoes many bonus symbols you get.
Winning happens quite a bit here in the Capital Region
Amazing, considering that Meg Millions is played throughout 45 states as well as the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands, the odds against one single ticket winner are purely astronomical.
And in 2011, 7 co-workers in Albany shared a Megamillions jackpot that had a grand prize of 319 million dollars. This would without a doubt be the second-largest jackpot win in the history of the Capital Region.
