According to a recent USA Today Readers’ Choice poll, the building is ranked among the 20 most haunted destinations in the entire country, and voting is now underway to determine its national ranking.

For decades, visitors and employees have whispered about strange happenings inside this spectacularly designed, 125-year-old building. Some claim to hear phantom footsteps echoing through the marble halls, odd sensations, and even shadowy figures believed to be spirits.

The building’s spooky reputation is also backed by history, as tragic deaths and eerie events have unfolded here, some of which are even connected to figures associated with President Abraham Lincoln.

The winning haunted destinations will be announced on Wednesday, October 1st.
