13-Year-Old Made Bomb Threat at School
A disturbing situation at a school in the Adirondacks led to a full evacuation and a police response this week.
According to New York State Police, a 13-year-old student from Long Lake—about two hours north of Albany—has been charged with Making a Threat of Mass Harm following an incident at Long Lake Central School.
On April 22, 2026, the student allegedly carried the device around the school, making threats and touching other students with it while stating it was a bomb.- NYSP

Calculator with Wires Sticking Out
Troopers were called to the school on School Lane around 9:46 a.m. on April 23 after reports of a bomb threat.
Investigators say the student had been carrying around a calculator with wires protruding, claiming it was a “bomb diffuser” connected to an explosive device he said he had planted somewhere in the school, which is located about 130 miles north of Albany.
Inexplicably, authorities allege the student actually displayed the device to other students and made threatening statements while even touching classmates with it.
On the morning of April 23, the device was later discovered inside the superintendent’s mailbox, the report states.
State Police Conducts a Sweep of the School
Out of an abundance of caution, the NYSP says the school was evacuated while New York State Police K-9 units conducted a sweep of the building. Officials say (thankfully) no credible threat was found.
The student was issued a Family Court appearance ticket and released.
State Police were assisted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.
