12 Days of Christmas- Upstate NY Edition

Here's a little Xmas throwback for you from back in 2019!  Some of the references are slightly dated, but it's funny nonetheless.  Listeners always ask where they can find it, so we decided to re-post it for you guys.

Who remembers the parody version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" called "The 12 Pains of Christmas"?

It's about a dysfunctional family, stressed out over the holidays, and relatable on a million levels.

Charities, in-laws, rigging up the lights, screaming kids, etc.

A couple of years ago, GNA put together a local version of that parody song, highlighting people, places, and things that Upstate, NY, and Capital Region residents can relate to.

We've included the lyrics and video montage to help you follow along. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us here at GNA!

The first thing at Xmas that upstate gave to me:
We finally got an Exit 3.
The 2nd thing at Xmas that upstate gave me to:
Two decent malls and we finally got an Exit 3
The 3rd thing at Xmas that upstate gave to me:
News Channel 10, two decent malls and we finally got an Exit 3
The 4th thing at Xmas that upstate gave to me:
an airport Chic-Fil-A, Steve Caporizzo, two decent malls and they finally built an Exit 3
The 5th thing at Xmas that upstate gave to me:
5 months of snowwwww...an airport Chic-Fil-A, Steve Caporizzo, gridlock at the malls and they finally built an Exit 3.
The 6th thing at Xmas that upstate gave to me:
State workers vaping, 5 months of snow, a Chic-Fil-A we can't use, Caparizzo's hair, gridlock at the malls, and they finally built an Exit 3
The 7th thing at Xmas that upstate gave to me:
A river we can't swim in, state workers vaping, 5 months of Snowwwww...Popeye's takes too long, Cap loves dogs, no parking at the malls, and they finally built an Exit 3.
The 8th thing at Xmas that Upstate gave to me:
Puppies and babies, one polluted river, state workers complaining....5 months of snowwwww...I'm craving Chic-Fil-A, he can't save the chickens, texting while they walk, and they finally built an Exit 3.
The 9th thing at Christmas that upstate gave to me:
DeCarlo's dancers dancing, puppies and babies, a river that divides us, state workers napping, 5 months of snow...Fox's John Gray, He's our guy, with different colored eyes, and he reported that they built Exit 3!
The 10th thing at Xmas that Upstate gave to me
An Egg for a building, DeCarlo's dancers dancing, puppies and babies, I want to cruise with huge, why is there no Southway...5 months of hell, we got an inch of snow, Ichabod Crane is closed, all the teens are at the malls and we finally got an Exit 3.
The 11th thing at Christmas that upstate gave to me:
Secrets the nightclub, an Egg for a building, DeCarlo's dancers dancing, I wanna cruise with Huge, on the river we can't swim in, with state workers vaping, 5 months of Colddddddd....Hatties Chicken Shack, Peppermint Pigs, Stewart's ice cream shops, and the Northway's still as jammed as can be.
The 12th thing at Xmas that Upstate gave to me:
Big, Massive Potholes, No dress code, puppies and babies, Crawling in the showroom, It's Huge-A-Thon, I love Benita Zahn,  Cuomo outlawed Vaping. Summer lasts a week.....We have a Chic-Fil-A, that no one can eat at unless you're flying out...but we can get there using Exit 3!
