Is Bass Pro Shops Still Coming To The Capital Region?
If you have driven on the Northway near Exit 9 or around Clifton Park Center, you have noticed a large piece of property that has been leveled. This is the area where the first Capital Region Bass Pro Shops is set to be built. So why hasn't construction started?
In February of last year, it was announced that Bass Pro Shops would build a seventy-seven-thousand-square-foot store to serve the Capital Region and the Adirondacks. This space is off of Clifton Country Road near Clifton Park Center. They received preliminary approval but nothing was done with the land.
According to the Albany Business Review, the car dealership on this lot has been demolished and the land has been leveled to get ready for the Bass Pro Shops store. Officials say that there is a signed lease with Bass Pro Shops.
Why Haven't They Started Building?
Bass Pro Shops is building other stores all over the country and they are working through the timing. They did say they are committed to the Town of Clifton Park but it is unclear if the store will be built in 2024 as expected.
The high visibility of the location off of the Northway and close to the Adirondacks makes this a desirable spot for Bass Pro Shops.
The final site plan that requires approval has to complete minor changes. Technical and landscaping plans are the areas that need change.
