
Several Winter Weather Advisories Issued For Upstate New York
As we hit the mid-point of January, several winter weather advisories have been issued with more snow and inclement weather across the state.
Old Man Winter has been fairly busy for the first half of January, and that trend will continue this week as New Yorkers navigate the rest of the month.
National Weather Service Issues Several Winter Weather Alerts Across NY
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued several winter weather advisories across the following areas of Upstate and Western New York:
Jefferson, Northern Oswego, and Western Lewis Counties
A lake-effect snow warning has been issued for these areas through 1 pm Wednesday. 1 to 2 feet of snow is expected, with up to 3 feet in the Tug Hill area. Wind gusts up to 35 mph and snow drifts are expected which will affect the evening and morning commutes.
Northern New York
NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for Northern New York through 4 pm Wednesday with fresh snow accumulations up to 7 inches.
Madison, Onondaga, and Southern Oneida Counties
A winter weather advisory has also been issued for these areas through 1 a.m. Thursday. Three to seven inches of lake-effect snow is expected.
The Capital Region will remain relatively unscathed from this latest round of storms, with a dusting to 1 inch expected for some according to the National Weather Service snowfall map above.
