Fashion Tips You NEED for WGNA’s Countryfest 2011

So earlier this week I mentioned cowboy hats and how they have a typical appearance at Countryfest every year.  They aren't necessity, but let's be real, who goes to a country music concert and not have on a cowboy hat. However, I know -- some people aren't really the hat wearing type of people.  There are other ways to feel country festive if you're one of those people.

For the Ladies

For the ladies, cut off shorts -- these are typically seen at Countryfest.  If you've never been, it gets very hot.  Full length pants or jeans, not a great idea.  Skirts are frequently worn as well (keep in mind you will be sitting down whether on the lawn or in a chair).  You want to be comfortable.

Cowboy Boots

Another fab accessory for the girls -- cowboy boots!  Who doesn't love Daisy Duke's attire.  If you don't want to mess up your hair with a cowboy/cowgirl hat, the boots are an absolute hit!  And if you're short like me, they give you a little bit of height without having to put on uncomfortable wedges.  Please keep in mind -- this IS an outdoor event.  Flats are a must!  High heels or wedges are not practical.  There is a lot of uneven terrain at the Altamont Fairgrounds, including the grass and stone walkways.

Tops

As for tops -- anything goes, I suppose.  Some girls rock the beater style tank top.  Lots of girls wear a tube top or sleeveless shirt to avoid those annoying tan lines.  And some girls go as far as wearing a bikini top.  Once again, if this is your first Countryfest, you will see a range of fashion choices.  Paired up with some jean shorts and cowboy boots, a cut plaid top is always festive for the show.  If you'd rather wear a plain top -- team it up with a cute, western styled belt or big buckle.  You know Miranda will have one on! Keep in mind, cotton will be the coolest type of material for that hot sun and of course, you don't want to be wearing anything too nice because we will be outside and it can get dusty and dirty.

For the Fellas

For the guys -- anything pretty much goes for the guys.  You want to stay cool, too, but I wouldn't suggest short shorts or a skirt!  Ha!  T-shirt and shorts are always favorable.  It's going to be hot, but pretty low humidity on Saturday so you might be able to get away with jeans.

As forementioned, the guys can pull off a cowboy hat a little bit easier than the girls with less hair to worry about messing up.  It is going to be sunny so if you can't rock a hat, whether you're a guy or girl, sunglasses should be a definite must!  And don't forget the sunscreen!  No matter how well you tan, it's going to be a long day in the sun if you are there the entire time.
