In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, I decided to break out a great patriotic country song and video for this weeks edition of Flashback Friday. This week we go back to 1984 for a Top 10 hit from the late, great Waylon Jennings, "America".

Released in September of 1984, "America" was one of three new tracks from Waylon's second Greatest Hits collection. The song peaked at #6 on the Billboard Charts and  has stood the test of time with it's proud patriotic message. Waylon would go on to have many more big hits and would continue recording and touring up until 2000 when diabetes would start getting the best of him. We would lose this Country Music Hall Of Famer two years later. Being a fan of the Dukes Of Hazzard growing up, I have always been a fan of Waylon and always will be.

I wish everybody a very safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. Be sure while you are having fun with your family and having your barbecues to remember the reason for this day. Don't forget the brave men and women of our armed forces fighting for us. Especially don't forget those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to help keep this country free. God Bless You and God Bless America!
