Popular Capital Region BBQ Spot Announces Big Move After 15 Years
BBQ Favorite is Moving
After 15 years serving up smoked meats, comfort food, and countless memories, Wagon Train BBQ announced that major changes are coming for one of the Capital Region’s favorite BBQ destinations.
In an emotional message shared with customers, owner Richard thanked the community, longtime employees, and loyal customers who helped turn the restaurant into what he called “more than just a restaurant.”
"You Are Our Family"
“You made it a community, and you are our family,” he wrote.
While the current location’s chapter in Rotterdam is coming to an end, Wagon Train BBQ says this is far from goodbye.

According to the announcement, the business plans to relocate, rebrand, and expand into what they describe as a larger, more modern facility with a “state-of-the-art building and kitchen.” The restaurant says the move will allow them to expand services while keeping the heart and soul of Wagon Train BBQ intact.
When and Where are They Moving?
The transition is expected to happen sometime in early June 2026, though exact details have not yet been officially confirmed.
While the restaurant did not specifically announce the new address, clues in the post appear to point toward a move to 2200 Helderberg Ave in Schenectady, the current home of Whispering Pines Golf Course.
For now, Wagon Train BBQ is encouraging customers to stop in over the next several weeks “for one more meal, one more conversation, and one more memory” before the move begins.
The restaurant also reassured catering customers that services will continue uninterrupted, with only the pickup location changing.
