Upstate New York To Plunge Into Deeper Arctic Freeze Next Week
New York's coldest January in years will continue next week with the most frigid temperatures yet during this polar plunge.
This month has certainly lived up to what forecasters predicted a few weeks ago, when they said this January would be the coldest since 2011.
Outside of a few recent milder days in the 30s, most of the month, daily highs have only been in the 20s. It's the kind of cold where there is no way you forget the hat, scarf, and gloves before you leave the house in the morning.
And get ready, because it is about to get even COLDER.
National Weather Service: Arctic Plunge Next Week
According to the National Weather Service, we will have a couple more days of more seasonable temperatures in the 30's.
An arctic airmass will then move into the area and the Captial Region and Upstate New York will dip into a polar plunge with our coldest temperatures of the season.
Highs will only reach the teens on Monday and Tuesday to kick off the work week!
