These 2 New York Ski Resorts Voted 2026 Best on East Coast
We are in full swing of ski season here in upstate New York, and you can feel it on every mountain. With fresh snow and busy lift lines, it is the perfect time for the latest ski rankings to drop. Two New York mountains just earned major love from East Coast skiers.
Ski Magazine's 2026 ranks ski resorts all over the country, and the survey looks at snow, lifts, terrain, family friendliness, and overall vibe, so it really reflects what skiers care about most when they visit a ski resort.
Gore Mountain comes in at number eleven. Even though it slipped slightly from last year, skiers still say it delivers a great day on the hill. With 450 skiable acres, there is plenty of space to explore without feeling overwhelmed.

People love the value and the variety of terrain for every level. The lift system moves quickly, keeping the day flowing. Its easy access from several metro areas also makes it a favorite for quick getaways.
Gore stands out for what it does not have. No slopeside hotels. No oversized resort village. Just an undeveloped Adirondack setting that feels peaceful and nostalgic.
Meanwhile, Whiteface Mountain jumps all the way to number three. As the Olympic mountain, it brings serious credentials. It has the longest vertical drop in the East, and you feel that height on every run.
The expert terrain gets plenty of attention, especially The Slides. Even with fewer than 300 skiable acres, Whiteface fits in long blues, easier lower runs, and a fast lift network.
Off the slopes, nearby Lake Placid adds great food, lodging, and that classic Adirondack vibe.
Together, Gore and Whiteface show why New York skiing belongs on the East Coast’s best list.
