It is very unfortunate to see the recent increase in the shooting deaths and injuries of law enforcement officers at various levels and departments around the country in the last couple of months.

Two U.S. Marshals and a local police officer were wounded executing an arrest warrant in St. Louis.  One U.S. Marshal was shot in the head in the exchange of gunfire and is in critical condition. ABC News has the story.

This really hits close to home as we get set for our 7th Annual WGNA Blue Friday on March 11th from 6-10am. The Sean and Richie Show will be broadcasting the morning show live at Denooyer Chevrolet on Wolf Road, and Jeff Levack will also be live at Pizzeria Uno on exit 15 of the Northway in Saratoga Springs.

Stop at either of these locations on your way to work and make a free will donation of whatever you want, or buy a blue carnation. There is even official "Blue Friday apparel" for sale as well. 100% of the proceeds from the event go to "Blue Friday of New York" and are used to help the families of officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

WGNA Blue Friday is also an official state holiday as proclaimed on the floor of the New York State Assembly is Albany and is recognized state wide as a day to honor those who sereve and protect.

If you can't fit us into the schedule on Blue Friday in the morning we will also be having a WGNA Blue Friday happy hour from 5-7pm at Central Steak on Central Avenue in Colonie and the proceeds from this event will also go towards Blue Friday of New York.

Wear blue to work this Friday in honor of those who serve with Country 107.7, WGNA-FM.
