Troy K9 Leaves Vet Hours After Being Stabbed 12 Times [WATCH]

What a great sight!

A touching video shows a Troy Police Department K9 getting a hero's applause from fellow officers while being helped out of the Upstate Veterinary Specialists in Latham.

Just hours earlier, K9 Norbi was considered to be in stable, but serious condition after he was stabbed multiple times during a botched robbery in Troy.

Burglary in Troy

According to sources, early in the morning on July 5th, Troy Police responded to a burglary in the Emerald Greens Neighborhood.  When they got to the house,  the suspect took off into a wooded area where he was chased by Troy Police officers and K9 Norbi.

K9 Norbi was stabbed multiple times

Sidewinder Photography reported that Norbi came upon the suspect, and that's when the suspect "lunged at the K-9 and began to stab the K-9 with a knife."

"Police officers rushed in and assisted the K-9 and stopped the attack... During the apprehension, another involved officer, not the K9 handler, also sustained a broken foot."
Multiple K-9 officers and police officers, according to Sidewinder Photography, started to render emergency aid to the K-9 officer that was stabbed. The K-9 officer was immediately rushed to the emergency vet office to save the K-9 officer's life.

Sources say the suspect is Curtis Knockwood 25, from Troy. He is expected to be charged later today with several counts of attempted burglary and injuring a police animal.

The incident happened at 4 am on Wednesday morning and thankfully, K9 Norbi was released from the Upstate Veterinary Specialists later that afternoon to a well-deserved hero's welcome from his brothers and sisters from the Troy Police Department.  Fingers crossed that K9 Norbi makes a full recovery.
