Slow declines, peaceful closes, criminal charges: there are a wild variance of reasons some Capital Region favorite eateries closed in 2022, but these are some that foodies will miss most.

The sad news comes only days after a similar announcement.

A report from the Times Union says that Grandma's Pies, the iconic Colonie restaurant and pie shop, may have served up it's last slice of down home goodness on Sunday.  Sad news for the longstanding restaurant that many people here in the Capital Region have a strong nostalgic connection to.

The latest store to file for bankruptcy and going out of business is Pier 1 Imports. This seems to be the trend because of a variety of factors including the coronavirus pandemic.

It looks like another major retailer will be closing all of its stores and one is located in Colonie Center.

A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts will close all of its locations nationwide. There is a plan for a handful of their stores but the store as we know it is going out of business.

There may be new life for Toys 'R' Us. The iconic toy story that went out of business last year, may be making a comeback.

Because of the popularity of online shopping, department stores continue to close. This time, another Sears store in our area will close its doors.
