I saw this story circulating on Facebook yesterday morning but I wasn't sure it was true. I also was hoping it wasn't. As I watched the news last night, Waterford police did confirm that there was an attempted abduction. Now they need the public's help.

Goats always make people smile.  They appear to have silly personalities, make noises that at times sound inexplicably human, and they're just freaking cute.  But when my son's mother, Alison, told me she was taking our 2-year-old son Brody to "Goat Yoga" my sarcastic reply was "Good luck with that!"

I really don't understand why people do the things they do. When I saw this story, I wonder how we, as a society, got to be so cruel. I guess now I have to inspect the playground before I can let my kid play on it. Really? What do these jerks possibly have to gain from this kind of behavior? It's sad.

When I was a kid, we went to the Saratoga Race Course a lot. We would get all dressed up and go early to do breakfast with my sisters, my mom and my grandmother. Then we would stay for the day and wander around and watch the races. There wasn't much for us to do at the track as kids but now they have made it a priority for kids to have fun.

Social media can be a scary situation for parents especially when they keep updating and changing everything about each app and service. Snapchat is the latest to cause a commotion and that is with their new "Snap Map."

As parents we always try to pick healthy snack for our kids. Now a local supermarket chain is helping children and parents a like to make better snack choices.

Chances are, if you or someone you know is graduating or has graduated, they were given the Dr. Seuss book, "Oh The Places You Will Go". Let's face it, Dr. Seuss was part of everyone's childhood in some way. Now you can visit a museum dedicated to him and his work.

We all love the summer in the Capital Region and we try to enjoy every minute in the sun because the season is so short. Whether you and your family are enjoying Lake George, Saratoga, the various parks and playgrounds or just a backyard pool this summer, make sure you're kids are protected. We learned the hard way.

Kids are quirky and Ryan is no exception. When I was a kid, I couldn't get enough pickle juice. I would drink it all of the time so I get that my little guy loves something odd.

My Grandmother has lived almost all of her 85-years here in the Capital Region. Throughout the Growing Up 518 video series, she has told us so many stories of going to school, meeting my Grandfather, getting married, their first apartment, house, the birth of their kids and raising a family.

Social media can be a wonderful thing or it can be a way for people to express themselves under not so great of a light. I agree that social media use in children should be monitored but maybe this Ohio school went too far here.
