Beneath the Surface

When you look out over Lake George, it’s easy to admire the crystal-clear water and mountain views.

But beneath the surface of the “Queen of American Lakes” lies a hidden world most people never get to see.

Stretching 32 miles and fed by underground springs, Lake George is known for its incredible clarity. With more than 100 miles of shoreline and over 300 islands, it’s a destination for boating, hiking, camping, and swimming across Upstate New York.

But it’s what’s at the bottom that really tells a story.

Fascinating Finds

One of the most fascinating discoveries is the Radeau, a 250-year-old British warship from the French and Indian War. It’s considered one of the best-preserved military vessels of its kind, sitting remarkably intact on the lake floor.

Divers exploring the lake—like experienced diver Candace Reno—have captured incredible footage of other submerged objects, including a sunken boat, a car, and even a small airplane.
