Man Arrested For Assaulting People In Albany And Posting Videos To Social Media

"Social Media is a lasts forever". That's what myself and millions of other kids were told by our parents in the age of digital infancy. We all pushed back back then, but they couldn't have been more right.

Videos (and photos) posted to the algorithm can go viral without any warning whatsoever, and sometimes they can get you in a heap of trouble.

Assaults in Albany

Over the past few weeks, videos began circulating of a man walking around what appears to be Albany. In the videos, the man walks up to unsuspecting individuals and proceeds to physically assault them, while recording the whole encounter.

There are, at a bare minimum, five of these videos that have circulated. Each and every one involves the man walking up to someone and proceeding to either kick or punch them before any words can be exchanged. A few of the videos have the man yelling at the victims afterwards, telling them to leave the scene.

Suspect Arrested

On Sunday, September 20th, Albany Police announced that they had arrested the suspect after his face was identified in the videos. He has outstanding warrants, and as such, was turned over to the Colonie Police Department. He will continue to be held until the investigation is entirely completed.

At the moment, the suspect's identity is being kept private in order to continue the investigations.

More information is being collected, and if you know anything about the case, please contact the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Capital Region Crime Stoppers at www.capitalregioncrimestoppers.com.
