The Adirondack Aquatic Center has been given the go ahead by the Malta Zoning Board.

According to the Times Union, plans have been approved for a new swimming center '...on Route 67 near Exit 12 off the Northway.' It will feature an Olympic size pool, instructional pools, diving and more. Currently, there are no facilities of it's kind and the article says swimmers sometimes travel as far as Ohio to train., This facility will change that and will not only become a recreational destination, but will also host swim meets. The Time Union says the facility is expected to open in 2020.

So add this to the list of growing recreational destinations on the area. Not to mention one that could have had a real health benefit for those who use it.

And hey, won;t it be nice to have another place to go swimming in the winter? Nothing like the smell of a little chlorine to help you think 'summer.'

Happy swimming!
