The Capital Region and surrounding towns have the best farmers' markets and roadside stands anywhere. There is one farmer's market that I look forward to each season and it's opening this weekend.

The Town of Colonie Farmers' Market will open on Saturday, May 15th, and feature over forty-five vendors from all different farms and stores throughout the area. They include honey, homemade chili and pot pies, kettle corn, sauces, jams, cookies, soaps, produce, candles, maple syrup, and more. To see a complete list of vendors and farms that will be there each Saturday, click HERE. There will be special live music for the opening day including rock, folk, and country according to News 10 ABC. The Colonie Farmers' Market at The Crossings Park on Albany Shaker Road will run every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm through September 25th.

Colonie Town Supervisor Paula Mahan is happy that the farmers' market will happen this year:

I am pleased that our market is able to return to its original and much-loved site at The Crossings Park. Our focus will continue to be on providing our community with healthy foods and produce. A heartfelt thank you to the vendors who made our 2020 market success after having to move its location. It was a difficult decision, but you all made it work.

There will be COVID guidelines that will need to be followed for the Town of Colonie Farmers' Market. You must wear a mask at all times and social distancing of six feet is mandatory. There will be officials on hand to manage customer traffic to eliminate people gathering too closely together.
