Mother’s Day Ideas for Moms in the Albany Area

Okay - so this isn't a place you dress up to go on Mother's Day and it's sorta a dive but the food is incredible and if you mom likes a low key thing, perhaps you take her this this great little family restaurant.

Gaffney’s has the BEST brunch we've seen. You can either eat indoors our outside on their patio. If the weather is nice, it's extra special outside. The food is buffet style with an omelet station. If you have a lot of siblings or a bigger family, this is a great choice and is also economical. Mom will approve.

While you might think Red Lobster is classy, it is after all a chain. The Reel Seafood Company, which is right across the street, is locally owned and far better. The prices are not too much more either. Mom will really think she's extra special when you take her to the nicer place for dinner.

Albany's Tulip Festival is in it's 65th year and while it is all about celebrating Albany's Dutch heritage, Sunday is all about mom. Many of the tulips in the park are from bulbs that are older than the city - some are over 400 years old! Moms love flowers and a strolling among them is always something she'll love.

Not only is the food excellent at Verdile's but the waiters all wear tuxedos. It's a throwback to the good old days when service was as important as the food. She'll feel like queen, and you won't go broke as their prices are very reasonable.

Everyone LOVES Kurver Kreme and mom surely does too. From ice cream to shaved ice and everything in-between  Kurver will have something or maybe a few somethings mom will love.

There are dozens upon dozens of great photographers in the Albany area. Hire one to come photograph mom and her whole family. Mothers LOVE family photos and the more the merrier!

You might love golf but if your mom doesn't then this isn't an option BUT if she does love golf, then take her to one of the many great courses we have in our area.

Moms love wine so why not take her to a wine tasting? We love this little place on Route 7 in Hoosick called 'Why Not Wine' where you can do a wine tasting for $7 and you can keep the glass. The store only carries New York State wines.

Bennington, VT is only about 45 minutes from Troy which makes it really close. There's something quaint about taking mom to Vermont! There are a ton of great places to eat and shop in Bennington and also some sightseeing to do too.
