The Museum of Innovation and Science (miSci) in Schenectady is getting ready to reopen this week. Because of COVID-19, miSci was forced to close but will now reopen with certain changes and new exhibits. According to the Daily Gazette, after being shut down since the middle of March due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Museum of Innovation and Science (miSci) in Schenectady will open this Thursday, July 16th.

There will be new exhibits and limited attendance along with new safety protocols to make sure everyone will be able to enjoy the museum. The major difference is that it won't be as hands-on as it used to be.

In an effort to reopen, miSci has closed its interactive exhibits that were hands-on and replaced them with two miSci-curated ones called "Sound Recording" and "Play".

Sound Recording highlights miSci's own collection of sound recordings around the world including one from Thomas Edison which is one of the oldest ones on record. Also the Nipper the dog story recorded along with original photographs. The Play exhibit will display recreational play including an 1870s tricycle and dolls dating back to the 19th century. These are exhibits put together purposely so that families can enjoy the museum with little hands-on contact.

MiSci is offering free admission and two sessions. There is one 10 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 4 pm Thursdays through Sundays. There will be limited availability and you can get tickets online here.

MiSci is asking you to do your part before you visit. Please make sure no one in your party has a fever of 100.4 or higher 24 hours before your visit. Make sure no one has tested positive or have been exposed to COVID-19 or been quarantined.
