Great school, great teachers and great time. Those words best describe my visit to Menands School   on the Reading, Writing and Rhyming Tour.

The subject matter all this month is bullying.   October is Anti-Bullying Awareness month.   I only became aware of this myself through the Academy for Character Education at the Sage Colleges.  ( They have excellent resources on their website if you're interested in fighting bullying in your school)

Meanwhile, here's how we hopefully got the message across at Menands School.  Using a song these second graders  already know and love – "Happy" by Pharrell Williams, we parodied it to speak about the hideous subject of bullying.  Here's what they came up with.   I couldn't believe how clever they were at this age!

Thanks much to Ms. Trainor, Ms. Sposito and all the kids.  Special thanks to Harshitha who provided us with the very cute "1-2-3" count off at the beginning!
