The former treasurer of a prominent local youth soccer organization is accused of embezzling over $120,000 during five years, beginning in 2017.
However, some good police work by the Town of Colonie PD led to his arrest.

In October 2022, the Colonie Police Department was alerted to concerns from club leadership, which prompted a thorough investigation into suspicious financial activity.
Colonie Police say William Nevins, from Menands, the former treasurer of the Latham Soccer Club, quietly stole funds from the organization’s checking account for personal use between 2017 and 2022.
Stole $120,000 from the Youth Soccer League
According to the police report, detectives spent months poring over records from both the club and Nevins’ personal bank statements, eventually uncovering a pattern of unauthorized spending that reportedly included everything from daily expenses to possible luxury purchases.

To date, according to the Colonie Police, the investigation has revealed that between September 2017 and May 2022, Nevins unlawfully diverted more than $120,000.00
The Latham Soccer Club, now called the Saints FC, is a youth soccer club based in Latham, New York, that offers recreational, competitive, and educational soccer programs for players of all ages and skill levels.
Nevins was arraigned in Colonie Town Court on July 23 and released on his recognizance.
