According to the New York State Police, the incident happened Monday morning, just after 7:25 a.m. on October 27th, along State Route 145 in Rensselaerville, when Troopers say Curtis L. Williams, 20, was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed.
Slammed Into Bus with 5 Kids
According to witnesses, Williams’ vehicle crossed over into the oncoming lane and slammed into a northbound Middleburgh Central School District bus carrying five children, an adult attendant, and the driver.
After the impact, Williams’ car overturned and struck a utility pole, bringing down wires and forcing crews to close part of Route 145 for several hours.
Miraculously, no one was seriously hurt, but State Police said that one child and Williams suffered only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Arrested and Charged with Numerous Infractions
Williams was later arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment, five counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and numerous traffic violations. He was processed at SP Latham and released with an appearance ticket for Rensselaerville Town Court on November 10, 2025.
State Police thanked Middleburgh Central School District and the Tri-Village Volunteer Fire Department for their quick response and cooperation during the investigation.
