J.K. Rowling Surprises with Free Children’s Book Online

J.K. Rowling, the author of the legendary Harry Potter series surprised fans on Tuesday announcing that she has released the first two chapters of her children's fairy tail story called The Ickabog.   The best part is that it's free, with new chapters released daily.  The first two rolled out on Tuesday.

Watch out, there's a monster eating *gasp* children and sheep according to BBC.com.  And it's the latest creation from the mind that brought you Harry Potter. 

J.K. Rowling was quick to point out that this is not a Harry Potter spin-off telling fans on her website that it was something "that came to me while I was still writing Harry Potter."  Fans of her who have been clamoring to feast their eyes (and imagination) on something new from Rowling are thrilled, and rightfully so.

It's only fitting that Rowling is comforting fans during this pandemic in her own very unique and appropriate way.  According to the BBC.com, Rowling said of The Ickabog, it's for "children on lockdown, or even those back at school during these strange, unsettling times."

The Ickabog, according to Rolling Stone Magazine, will be released online for free over the next month and a half or so, with new chapters rolling out daily.  According to Rolling Stone, once the book completes it's online run, it will be officially released in November 2020.  She also announced that she'll be donating her royalties from the books to various groups affected by COVID-19.
