Former college lacrosse star at Syracuse University wins $14M on NY Lottery scratch-off!

A former standout high school and college lacrosse player who helped the Syracuse Orange win a National Championship in 1995 scored big recently on a shot he took on with a lottery ticket, not a lacrosse ball when he turned a $20 scratch-off from the New York Lottery into nearly $14M dollars!

According to a report from Syracuse.com, Dave Signor, 48, from Boonville, New York (a few hours northwest of Albany) purchased a "10,000 Dollars a Week For Life" scratch-off from the New York lottery before Memorial Day but didn't scratch the $20 ticket right away.

He slept on it, literally.

The next day, according to the report, he scratched it and that's when he realized his life had changed dramatically.

When he brought it back to the Boonville Sunoco, they scanned it for him, confirming that he had won the nearly $14M dollar grand prize!

Signor opted to take the $9M dollar "lump sum" payment which amounts to about $5.5M after taxes.

The report from Syracuse.com mentioned that Signor was a former lacrosse player for the Syracuse Orange back in the 90s, but his career was derailed by an injury.

Before the injury, the credentialed lacrosse star was a key member of the 1992 and 1993 National Championship teams at Herkimer College. After Herkimer, Signor went on the play for the Syracuse Orangemen, where he won an NCAA National Title in 1995.

Signor told Syracuse.com that he's currently working construction, but that he's been shelved with an injury adding, “The whole thing just swept me off my feet,’' he said. “It’s nothing I ever imagined.”

Amazingly, his teams in high school, college, and international competitions compiled an overall record of 176-2, with 2 high school state championships, 2 NJCAA National Championships, 1 NCAA Division 1 National Title, and a gold medal in the 1991 World Championship. In 2018 he was inducted into the Herkimer College Hall of Fame.
