Dannemora Accomplice Getting Early Release
It's hard to believe that it was four years ago that the two convicted murderers escaped from the Dannemora prison and a massive manhunt captivated the entire state. Now the woman that helped the two men escape is getting out of prison on an early release.According to News 10 ABC, Joyce Mitchell who helped the two men escape back in 2015 is scheduled for conditional release. This is two full years before her sentence is up. She had been denied parole on three separate occasions.
Joyce Mitchell is up for conditional release which means that she is considered by the Time Allowance Committee to have earned an early release because of her participation and behavior while in prison. She will be released on February 8, 2020, and will serve out the rest of her time under the supervision of parole.
Mitchell helped two convicted murderers, David Sweat and Richard Matt, escape from the Dannemora prison by helping them smuggle tools inside. She was also supposed to be their get-away driver but decided not to show. She was arrested as an accomplice to the escape.
