2020 has been a crazy year. Crossgates Mall was even closed for some time. Now they have announced their holiday hours and for the first time ever the mall will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. I have always been a mall shopper for the holidays and this year won't be any different. Crossgates Mall is one of my go-to shopping destinations. This year there will be some changes and not only the safety protocols, but the hours and sales will look different too.

According to News 10 ABC, Crossgates Mall will be doing things differently for the holiday shopping season. They will be following all the COVID-19 safety protocols but the sales and the hours will be adjusted this year. You will have to wear masks and social distancing will continue to be required in order to enter the mall. There are certain Healthy Shopper Guidelines to follow as well that you can read HERE.

Typically, the sales would begin Thanksgiving Day into Black Friday and through the holiday season leading up to Christmas. This year, however, tenants at Crossgates Mall are spreading out the sales over a longer period of time, starting earlier and doing more discounts. Crossgates will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, open at 6 am on Black Friday, and be closed again on Christmas Day. The deals are bigger than ever and available earlier than before. Crossgates Mall Marketing Director, Jennifer Smith, has this to say about being closed on Thanksgiving Day:

“If the challenges of the pandemic have taught us anything, it is the value of time with family. It is our hope that our guests, tenants and on-site staff will be able to spend additional time with their loved ones and re-charge during the most active shopping season of the year.”

There is also word that Santa will be making a stop at Crossgates Mall with safety protocols in mind. No schedule has been announced as of yet but we should hear in the next few weeks.
