Colonie Getting New Development on Old Farm: Name Will Honor Area
More houses will be going up in the Colonie/Loudonville area. Another farm has been sold to accommodate the forty-lot subdivision off of Albany Shaker Road. The developer says they will pay homage to the area by naming it after its historic roots.
Where Will This New Development be Built?
The piece of land that the homes will be built on is the old farm owned by Victor Foegtli. There was a farm stand and a horse paddock on the property. It is twenty-one acres.
There are two pieces of land that are located between Danielwood and James Drive right across the street from the entrance to Shaker Road Elementary School according to the Albany Business Review. Fifteen acres will be used for the homes, lawns, landscaping, and roads.
What Will the Development be Called?
Frank Barbera who is the builder worked closely with the town of Colonie historian to come up with the name of the development. Back in 1854, the area between Osborne and Maxwell roads was called Cold Spring. So the new subdivision will be called Cold Spring. The street names will be Edenfield, Delia, and Baylor after prominent families from the 1800s.
What Type of Homes Will be Built?
The homes will be both ranch-style and colonials. They will have varying square feet from 1500 to 2800. There will be 40 homes built and the starting price will be $400,000. They anticipate that the construction will begin this summer. Currently, there is already a waiting list.
