The winds were monsoon-like, any moisture froze and we weren't expecting it, that's for sure. In a forecast that called for possible snow, waking up to nothing more than a windblown Capital Region was a nice sight, or so it seemed. 

Then there was the black ice scattered in patches along major and side road ways that left many slip sliding through their morning commute.

No one felt it more than the driver in Schenectady who skidded right into a gas pump at the Lukoil station on the corners of Eastern Avenue and McClellan Street. See the image below.
