What Bethel Woods originally billed as a “pan-generational music, culture, and community event to celebrate the golden anniversary of the original Woodstock concert" has been changed. The 'new' announcement  was made earlier today and Bethel Woods management still hold out hope that that concert-goers and generational hippies still find the events exciting, albeit it a change from the 'festival' it had originally announced.

According to Poughkeepsie Journal ,Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Sullivan County announced Tuesday that Ringo Starr and His All Star Band as well as  Carlos Santana will perform in August during a 50th anniversary celebration of Woodstock.    The celebration will feature 3 separate nights of shows, and not a 3-day 'pan-generational event'.

A much larger Woodstock 50th anniversary event, planned by promotor Michael Lang is set for the weekend of Aug. 16 to 18 at the Watkins Glen International speedway in New York's Finger Lakes region according to dailyfreeman.com.

That story also states that Michael Lang, the man promoting the Watkins Glen Woodstock show, claims that he passed on having his show at Bethel Woods because the site is "much too small for what we're envisioning".  Lang is the co-producer and co-founder of the original Woodstock show, as well as the two anniversary shows in 1994 and 1999.

The Starr performance on August 16th and Santana concert August 17th are part of “A Season of Song & Celebration," a series of events at Bethel Woods
