1. Donald Trump Becomes President of the United States -

In 2016 the media and Donald Trump himself did everything they could to sabotage his campaign, but to no avail.  The Donald became the first reality show producer and star to become President.

From Donald's "grab 'em by the p*ssy" video to his bragging about his penis during a debate, he simply couldn't be stopped.

One poll even deemed him less popular than lice!

But, even still, Trump won the electoral vote by a landslide.  Hillary Clinton had close to 3 million more total votes, though... just sayin'!

2. Colin Kaepernick protests the National Anthem -

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick became the most disliked player in the NFL after declaring that he wouldn't stand for the National Anthem in August because he wasn't proud of a country that "oppresses black people and people of color."

It stirred up a lot of controversy, but a few other players started doing it too, and his jersey sales did start selling like crazy.  Colin donated the proceeds from the jersey sales to charity, and he's stuck to the protest throughout the whole season.

He was called out pretty harshly on the internet for not voting in the election in November.

3. 2016 was The Year the Music Died -

David Bowie died on January 10th and from that moment on, it felt like they were dropping like flies. Eight days later, Glenn Frey from the Eagles died from various health issues . . . and we lost Prince to a drug overdose on April 21st.

Leonard Cohen died last month after a fall in his home. Plus, Maurice White from Earth, Wind and Fire, Keith Emerson, and country legend Merle Haggard... Just to name a few.

4. Kim and Kanye -

In early October, Kim was tied, gagged, and robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel.

Kanye rushed to be with her, and she's been mostly MIA from the public since it happened.  He tried to resume his tour, but he had to cancel it after suffering a breakdown and ending up in the hospital for a psych evaluation.

Kanye also spent much of the year feuding with Taylor Swift over his song "Famous."

5. Celeb Breakups -

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard split in May, after a little more than a year of marriage.  And this one got UGLY. Johnny eventually agreed to pay Amber a $7 million settlement, and she said she was giving it all to charity.  But they're allegedly still fighting over it.

Maybe it was naïve, but I think we all started getting used to the idea that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were going to be that rare celebrity couple who MADE IT.  Then, in September,

Mariah Carey and Australian billionaire James Packer broke up after less than two years together. Lindsay Lohan broke up with her Russian boyfriend, then started talking in a goofy accent, which she dubbed "Lilohan". Taylor Swift broke up with both Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston, Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama called it quits, and Lady Gaga and "Chicago Fire" stud Taylor Kinney also ended things.
